A TASTE OF BELGIUM

Queen City is my “get-a-way “city for sure! I do not go as often as I would like due to work, but I make do. What I enjoy most about my visit is spending time with my brother Stefon and nephew Tink. Whether it’s cruising around the city singing “Buffalo Soldiers” from the Legend, Best Collection of Bob Marley or

attending fun-filled cultural festivals with dance contests and plethora of food, nothing amounts to creating joyous memories with these two.

Oh, did I mention the endless possibilities of restaurants to choose from! Thanks to the Food Network, I became an amateur food critic from Guy Diner, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Let’s talk about brunch!

Taste of Belgium is probably my TOP breakfast spot(s) to go to in Cincinnati, Ohio. My brother introduced me to the restaurant two years back, and I have been obsessed since then. Customer service, food quality, and fascination for interior decor play a great factor when choosing brunch spots. Taste of Belgium aesthetic is more of city life -cafe in an intimate setting, surrounded by creative artwork. A pastry bar sits in the middle of the restaurant as if “just in case you need something sweet”

I’ve always managed to get either the two egg style platter or eat off of my brother’s Goetta dish.

Their mouth-watering waffles are definitely their specialty on the menu. The waffles are made from scratch, golden-, thick, and palm-size with no syrup needed with a side of Canadian bacon.

Next entree: Goetta Hash

It is nothing like you ever tasted before. The texture is more scrapple- small meatball form. The dish includes sausage, fried eggs, sautéed red & green peppers, and onions. This entree is more so comfort food and large portion. It is hard to finish in one sitting.

Last entree: Chicken, Biscuit & Gravy

The sandwich is smothered with pepper gravy, fried chicken breast, and a sunny -side egg. The crispy chicken breast is a nice size, crunchy, and taste oven- baked. Although the breast is unseasoned, it is filling; the thick gravy and moist buttermilk biscuit make up for it. I normally order french fries on the side.

I will be back to try the chicken & waffles soon!

If you ever go to Cincinnati, please go check out “ A TASTE OF BELGIUM” for brunch!

Until next time!
