MOOD 4 EVA II
Wearing less and somewhat going out more
It is really hard to choose between the variety of options within our wardrobe. We are either purging or splurging. Sooner or later the sun will set, and night begins to fall… in preparation of a new season.
However, this summer was more than just solitude indoors. Disney+ presented Queen B “ Black is King” this past July.
I AM HERE FOR IT.
Yes, I am a month late, but her visuals within the film were impeccable. “ Black is King” was more than just visuals: the intensive movement, authentic storyline, characters’ perspectives, symbolic wardrobe, momentum, and a transition leading up to each scene. Most importantly, the narratives of African and African American culture were being channeled by black people.
This was definitely a care package well needed during this tiring time.
We all love an encore from our fellow heroine, especially the draw-dropping wardrobe!
One thing is for sure, Beyonce either starts the trend, become the trend, or recycle the trend to recreate a new trend!
I see you Zerina Akers!
Zerine Akers, fashion stylist and costume designer of Beyonce -Knowles-Carter and Halle x Chloe, did not come to play! She highlighted styles from different time intervals throughout Black history, and incorporated symbolic ancestry pieces embedded within the wardrobe, used a few African fashion designers for the scenes.
From woven headpieces, bold + vibrant elegant dresses to edgy animal print and modern-day jumpsuits, Beyonce and the fam are going to come dress to the 9s, as well as, keep the wealth within the family, when I say family, I mean the black community.
JAY-Z married a hustler for nothing
My wardrobe was inspired by the “MOOD 4 EVA” scene and the ongoing animal print trend for the past two fashion season(s): ferocious + feline style and the historical time periods emphasis in each scene. Beyonce wore a Valentino couture leopard bodysuit propped on a leopard pattern Rolls Royce with a metropolitan skyline backdrop. The scene was EPIC!
I wanted to recreate the scene by utilizing animal print, and the long black gloves for an elegance and Harlem Renaissance look. The dress was purchased from SHEIN in small. The fabric is “see-through”, fit snug, elongated, and has a tie-up in the back. I paid $22 compared to other e-commerce brands, it would’ve been $65-70. Since the dress was so long, I wore black NIKE Air Max underneath.
Tennis shoes and a dress will always be my mood for EVER!
What was your favorite scene from BLACK IS KING? Are you recreating looks from the film?
