Pastels X Petals

Summer is almost over! ( real tears) It’s time to hang up the summer dresses, fold the lawn chairs, tuck away the swimsuits, and grab the pumpkin spice latte and into something warm. But before we do that, let’s do a recap on what you should grab before the season change and what pieces to wear for a semi formal event(s). You know the semi formal event you have to prepare for in advance, you know the one you supposedly go and show your face three times a year (a wedding and/or bridal shower, birthday gathering, networking happy hour event). You’re probably tossing blouses on the floor trying to find a decent one, the sleek skirt looking shabby with lint balls, a pair heels you’ve been wearing non stop with the same repetitive outfit every other weekend. Yea.. I get it, and it happens. How do you stay prepare for next year event(s)?

1.Here are few suggestions on summer sales items to take advantage of before the season is breach: shift dress, faux skirts, silk tanks, satin pants can be worn through the fall/winter seasons. Keep in mind Mix + matching prints, textures, hues of solid color, patterns, high and low items are great factors when recreating your signature look. It’s all in matter of styling it appropriately for the climate. For example: Shift dress can be worn as shirt with ripped boyfriend jeans or skinny jeans with heels or ankle bootie. This idea also works with shoes and accessories. You want your purchases to be annual “ready to wear” looks.

2. Statement pieces: If it’s odd and unique, I am purchasing it! Lately, I have been on this accessories kick: sunglasses, hats, and earrings! Normally, I’ll get the earrings from H&M and 5% of the time Zara. I only say Zara due to they have the best extensive gaudy pieces ever. A gaudy necklace or earrings can really bring the outfit together, especially with an open neckline or up do hairstyle. The trend for open toe shoes with socks has been at its peak this spring/summer, and it is not going anytime soon.

Speaking of earrings, I incorporated my pastel petal flower earrings ( from my previous editorial look book) with my fringe/light pink “Fefe” Steve Madden heels. The teal Zara shift dress was thee perfect pop of color to bring my pastel vision together. The shift dress is a polyester; more airy dense material for the cool summer/spring weather. I really love the ruffle folds on the sleeve and the diamond cut out for a little back action. plan on wearing the dress as a top in the fall with jeans.

How do you plan on wearing your summer sale items in the fall and winter months? Let me know in the comments below
