PARIS FASHION WEEK 2019 X 1970s
Can you believe Paris Fashion Week was literally just last week?!
My favorite highlight was legendary Ms. Grace Jones strutting across the stage in a metallic pink blazer, and a shimmer bodysuit for the Zendaya x Tommy Hilfiger collection.
Can we say, YAS!
The latest collaborative Spring 2019 collection was inspired by 1970s fashion and music; giving everyone “ flared trousers, psychedelic prints, and satin material” feels (www.popsugar.com). Zendaya and her fashion stylist, Law Roach curated the theme based upon cultural diversity and the” 1973 Battle of Versailles” fashion show. In November 1973, French designers were pitted against American designers during that time.
Amongst the biggest collaboration to ever part taken in Paris Fashion Week thus far, French designer Christian Dior and British designer Alexander McQueen showcase their various textiles in embracing their ethical background. Scottish tartan pleated skirts, kilts, and English pop culture plaid pants were feature on the runway. The ideal runway theme was to tap into discovering one’s identity.
Captivated by Paris Fashion Week 2019, I decided to put my spin on the 1970s English punk, rock, and grunge fashion with a splash of the Beatles! I was indecisive on the look I wanted to provoke. Until, I came across this plaid sleeveless vest dress in the sales rack at Calvin Klein outlet.
I love the semi slit, perfect fit, cotton fabric, light weight, and the deep V neckline.
A little apprehensive and indecisive, I consulted with my friend + designer via FaceTime believing the dress would be too formal. After a quick double take in the mirror, I decided to give it the green light! The dress was too unconventional to pass up in this day and age!
The suit dress was marked down for 60% due to an online return purchase, plus an additional 50% off.
My total was $20!
I paired the dress up with a thin black turtle neck from H&M for $12. My Steve Madden black suede knee high boots were on sale for $60. And for a pop of color, I went ahead and purchased these eccentric $ 5 clip on earrings from H&M to break up the black and white attire. I figure the animal print and robust colors had a feline edge, in which will set off my Zara black hat from with in my closet.
Talk about outfit for under $100
