Street-Style Saturday
“Can I kick it?, ( Yes you can)”- A Tribe Called Quest
Happy Saturday!
If you had a rough week like me, you probably were counting the hours down to the minutes til Friday. While I normally do a celebratory dinner(s) at Abbey’s with my best-friend, I decided to “kick it” with Issa Rae, Zoey (my dog), and a big cup of Turkey Hill Fudge Ripple ice cream. Yum!
However, Saturday… Saturday is my time to shine baby!
My street-style Saturday look was influence by none other than Versace. The well-known brand can easily be distinguished by Chain Medusa necklaces and Baroque Hibiscus black and gold tees. In 2012, Trinidad James wore a JoyRich leopard silk shirt, vintage Chanel golden chain, and Versace loafers in his “ All Gold Everything” music video from his latest album "Don't Be S.A.F.E.”. Let's not forget about the hottest Rap and Hip &Hop trio, the Migos, who, in 2013, curated a groundbreaking aesthetic based upon “Versace”, with their number #1 hit single of the same name. , Quavo, Offset, and Takeoff embodied Versace pendant necklaces, animal prints, and eyewear in the “Versace” music video featuring Drake. Talk about money talks!
So while I wait for the Migos to hit my phone inquiring on me becoming their wardrobe stylist, let’s get into this Street-style Saturday, shall we?
I purchased this dress in a size small back in January, when ZARA was shifting their collection. As always, the dress was well hidden (Ha!) and a great replica of a Versace dress, complete with gold chain and hibiscus design. For $20-25, you couldn’t beat the price! Thin, polyester, and knee-length, this dress is not bulky nor tight which I love! The embroidered design and fabric paint texture in the background gives this dress an intricate style. While the color scheme does a great job of not overpowering which is a plus!
I paired an open toe mesh black heel to complement the length of the dress. These were the same shoes sold in Steve Madden and Aldos last year for $90+! I purchased them for $20 at Marshalls in Cincinnati when visiting my nephew “Tinka” and my brother. Adding the black scully on for a last minute chill look made this ensemble versatile and simple (in a good way)! Literally, I can wear this fit day to night!
